Special Interest Groups

Computer Games Design Groups

Dumfries Computer Games Design Club (CGDC) Alternate Tues 4.30-7.30

Kirkcudbright CGDC Alternate Weds 4-7pm

These groups are aimed at young people with ASD. They must have an interest in Computer Games. They also need skills in one or more of these areas: digital art/drawing, computer programming, fantasy, mythology, etc.

Young people come together to learn how to create computer games. They start from initial concepts. This includes setting rules and aims for the game. Then, they work on the design and programming using game engine software to help create a playable game. The group work on their own games with occasional group activities to build and develop team work skills.

Dungeons and Dragons

Dumfries D&D Tues 4.30-7.30

Kirkcudbright D&D 4-7pm

Dungeons and Dragons, is role play game, with the young people role playing their characters. They work as a team to go on missions and solve mysteries. There is lots of creativity and it seemed like a great alternative to the CGDC. Participants have fun, whilst increasing their confidence and interpersonal skills, such as listening, communication, asking questions.

Sadly, we are coming to the end of our funding. We hope to secure more funding in the near future. This will allow us to offer additional groups.
